The Use of Special Interest Organizations for Seniors
Pavla Radová
Abstract:
This text focuses on the use of special interest organizations for seniors. These organizations help to mediate social contacts among its members, organize leisure time activities and provide other services. Methods of qualitative research were used to examine the arguments for participation in activities organized by the above mentioned organizations. This text aims at the degree of satisfaction with the range of offered activities and at the evaluation of these activities’ merits from the viewpoint of seniors themselves. In the light of using everyday leisure time I also explored the group of seniors living in institutional care in order to show the differences between these two groups. This text results in pointing out the possibility of using the component of self-help outside the domain of special interest organizations.
