Postmodern Thinking in the Counseling Practice

Leoš Zatloukal

Abstract:
Systemic approaches define themselfs explicitly as influenced by the postmodern philosophy (radical constructivism, social constructionism). Those approaches belong to approaches which growmost dynamically in current social work and psychotherapy in USA and western Europe (Prochaska, Norcross, 1999). There are presented some basic premises of those approaches in this article (e.g. constructivist epistemology, systemic causality). Practice using of this premises is demonstrated by description of some used techniques and procedures: focusing on resources and solutions, reframing, respect based on idea of impossibility of instructive interaction, and externalization of problem.
