Practical Usage of Play in Children and Adults

Abstract:
The article shows the history and present of play therapy in psychotherapy, basic diagnostic tests and education. Offers application of psychological aspects of play in psychotherapy of children and adults, who can hardly adapt to serious life events as are chronical illness, pain or handicap in integration model of therapy which arises from dynamic oriented psychoterapeutical approaches, family therapy, cognitive-behavioural and humanistic therapy. The article sums up efectivity of play therapy in children with anxiety and fobic problems, behavioural disturbances, depression, sexual abuse, postraumatic stress disorder. In children with chronical illness, pain or handicap the article specifies indications of play therapy in mental hygiene and prevention, management of emotional troubles (anxiety, depression), adaptation to chronic illness, to chronic pain and serious medical help. The play in work with adults aiming to broad sense of cognitive-behavioural therapy when is play used in training of social skills, coping with stress and prevention of pain regression, in training of self-carriage, for improvement of communication, repair of creativity, to modification of behaviour by the help of imitation and playing of roles, training of memory, thinking and orientation. The article show inspiration in applications of play element in psychotherapy of chronical illnesses in children and in adults. Social worker uses play in bio-psycho-social model of chronic diseases treatment together with other psychotherapists (clinical psychologist, psychiatrist) for effective cooperation between chronically ill, family, school or employer and hospital.Keywords:
