Reflection of Deinstitutionalization – Values, Costs, Recommendations

Abstract:
The paper is focused on residential services for persons with disabilities. In reflection of Goffman’s work the principals and initiatives are deinstitutionalization are analyzed. The outcomes of the study conducted in the residential services in 28 European countries are summarized. A retrospective view on the process of deinstitutionalization in the European context is presented together with lessons learnt during deinstitutionalization in England, Germany and Italy.Keywords:
