Alternative Approaches to Analyse Data in Small Samples in the Social Work Practice

Abstract:
Article presents some selected research methods that are not so often used in the Czech social work practice. The first method is statistical in nature and it is based on binomial distribution. As it is suitable for samples of N = 1 size, it can be used for case studies. The second method is the Boolean analysis. This non-statistical method is based on the Boolean algebra and it is suitable for small sized samples. Its main strength is that, contrary to the many statistical methods, it can deal with causality in its complexity, which social practitioners can appreciate.
