New Act on Social Work in Slovakia: Retrospection, Perspectives and Questions

Abstract:
In July 2014 a new legislative framework for social work was approved in Slovakia. Aspiration of the new act on social work is to create a better professional performance of social work. Its main aim is to support a professionalization social work performance, and in particular by establishing the necessary qualifications and establishment of the Slovak Chamber of social workers and social assistants. The article provides information on the law-making process and critical reflexion on its perspectives and aspirations, including the questions that the new act raises.Keywords:
