Clinical Supervision in Gerontological Social Work: Reflections on the Practice in Bulgaria

Abstract:
The article analyzes practical experience and reflections on the current situation of clinical supervision in the gerontological social work in Bulgaria. After a brief theoretical review core clinical competencies and main difficulties in the social workers’ practice are commented. The specific support, which certain forms and approaches for supervision provide, is also interpreted in this context. The analysis is illustrated with examples from supervision sessions of social workers. According the conclusions of the author, social workers’ professional identity and the controversial status of multidisciplinarity are the most topical and significant problems, which supervisors face in gerontological social work in Bulgaria.Keywords:
