Radana Kroutilová Nováková, Soňa Kinská
Abstract:
The authors of the paper map out the use of care allowances by the Roma population and the misuse of this type of benefit. Their study is based on the partial results of their own quantitative research conducted in the years 2014– 2015 using a questionnaire. The research group consisted of members of the Roma ethnic group receiving care allowances in the given time period from the local contact centre of the Labour Office of the Czech Republic. The results showed that persons drawing care allowance spent the received financial payments on expenses not directly related to care provision, such as food, medicine, clothing, as well as rent or car fuel. As for matters directly linked to care provision, the allowance was used to pay for the delivery of shopping, transport to the doctor´s and to cultural events or other leisure activities. In the conclusion the authors put their findings into context with research on the use of care allowance payments by the majority population. Keywords:
